THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF YOUTH JARGON ON THE AZERBAIJANI LITERARY LANGUAGE

Abstract

This article examines the formation features, structural-semantic characteristics, and mechanisms through which Azerbaijani youth jargon negatively influences the Azerbaijani literary language. Youth jargon primarily develops under the influence of social environment, global communication, information technologies, and mass culture, exhibiting a dynamic nature.

Furthermore, the influence of youth jargon manifests in syntactic simplification, the predominance of informal expression styles, and deviations from normative sentence structures. Jargon elements sometimes weaken the stylistic stability of the literary language, reduce the semantic precision of linguistic units, and negatively affect speech culture. Particularly in informal communication, the extensive use of jargon can hinder the formation of language habits that conform to literary language norms among young people.

The research indicates that while youth jargon serves as a means of expressing social group identity, its excessive use may negatively affect the normative stability and functional purity of the literary language. Therefore, studying the spread of youth jargon within the language system and preserving literary language norms is of significant importance.
